A HISTORY
for christina
Your feet dug into the sand
wet towel spread out nearby
no words said
greetings faded in the horizon,
this is history
friendship folded in the middle of a book,
sand castles crumbled
hands sandy, worn out
there was always possibility
that our stares would outlast this day
splashing our lives in black
this history
we’d hidden in a photograph,
you hoped that I would swim with you
deeper and deeper into blue
blue colored forgetting,
but I swam away in an auto
in our history
poems divide into twos
floating
sinking
erased.
