THE MEMOIRS OF ALEXANDER HERZEN
Russian Thinker
13th.may.2015
Words were your map
distorting images from the past
your pen and sentences made destiny fate,
which I now trace along horizons
made of years, journals, and winters
left on fading trees, monuments,
your breath was lightning
your whisper burning barricades
sighs to remember kindness
from depths swam in,
you were eloquent Russia
from Siberia to Paris
you sat among minds, led the path of virtue
sounding out secrets to insight
to better live among wild animals
Here in the future I sit
reading you who were once Alexander.
