Sleep

SLEEP
After louis macneice part two

Sleep, my tears, sleep, my silence
walk away under fog lit nights, walk towards the docks,
Sleep, my quiet sea, sleep, my loneliness
words left on a page, broken table swept of all its memories,
Sleep, friends who left, sleep, lovers and dreams,
wash the night with laughter, clear the air of histories,

Sleep, books left on trains, sleep, poems erased and forgotten,
journals shelved with tears, catalogued with your name,
Sleep, love wherever your bed lies, sleep, pain of goodbyes,
reading words then moving on to ink and paper, writing the clouds towards silence,
Sleep, morning breeze, sleep, cocktails waiting by a midnight bar, sleep, kisses in the future

Sleep, Valentines Day falling apart, pieces left by the road, Sleep, broken windows
of old summer homes, lakes stilled with Autumn, leaves falling by your chair,
Sleep, dear grandmother, sleep, silent forests filled with mist and rain,
lighthouse horn calling out for lost souls, come home, come home,

Sleep, songs sung in stilled gardens, sleep, waters that refresh, that brighten,
time passing by open windows, morning breeze shedding shadows, loss,
Sleep, gentle muse, sleep, wherever you travel in this small world,
give up your whispers, give up your visions, give a quick hug and peck while leaving me,

Sleep, dear youth, sleep friends that sleep forever,
sleep in hope of finding another voice someday...
