ETERNITY WALKS THE CITY
We walked down lonely alleys
wearing nothing but emptiness
steps mimicking clocks clicking,
I wondered ‘is this a dream?’
in ancient days it would have been a ‘vision’
looking down at my dirty boots
covered in yesterday’s muddy tears
we kept walking, she feigned muteness
I respected her stern beauty
expecting some form of benediction
to pass from here to forever
or some other-worldly fog surrounding us
in voices booming- ‘come’
but nothing happened
she turned left
pushed me right
saying ‘keep going straight ahead.’
