DREAM TEARS
for lauren l. tallon
You
told me once
that
you cry in your dreams,
sad
troubling sorrow
not
understood
And
so I wondered…
What
If you, in some other time,
came
into my dreams
looking
for words or thoughts
to
contain your overwhelming absence,
what
would your explanation be
to
this unannounced visit?
finding
in my sloppy whirling nocturnal-world
black
and white colors,
no
decoder to break verbal minutia,
Would
I welcome you nervously?
fidgeting
along floating cityscapes
half-opened
eyes, taking in sleep
above grey-orange clouds,
Would
you try to clip on a phrase or image
to
take back to your dreams, your rest?
rebuilding
new urban distances?
In
this fogged up dream besides a dream
raindrops
deconstruct hour by hour
tear
by tear, echo by echo,
all
around the past disappears.
If
you came into my dreams
I
would redress wonder in a more fitting
otherness, writing lazy
night
memoirs of your name,
to
impress a memory on spectral paths,
If
ever you came into my dreams
I
would save all my hellos and smiles
forget
the word goodbye…
wipe
all the dream tears from your sleep
